Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Clinical Endoscopist (Band 8A) to join the Endoscopy Department. Job Description
The Clinical Endoscopist will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures with precision and efficiency. Working independently on weekends, the successful candidate will be expected to deliver expert patient care, contribute to service improvements, and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team to enhance clinical outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced endoscopist looking for flexible weekend work in a highly respected NHS trust.
Key Responsibilities
Perform high-quality endoscopic procedures in line with clinical protocols and guidelines.
Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care as an autonomous practitioner.
Work alongside the Clinical Endoscopist team to maintain exceptional patient care standards.
Contribute to the strategic development of endoscopy services, ensuring continuous service improvements.
Implement evidence-based practice, incorporating the latest advancements in endoscopic treatment.
Ensure compliance with infection control policies and safety protocols within the endoscopy unit.
Professionally report to the Divisional Lead Nurse, ensuring transparency and accountability in clinical practice.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Clinical Endoscopist, preferably within an NHS or equivalent healthcare setting.
Ability to work autonomously and make specialist clinical decisions with confidence.
Strong knowledge of endoscopic procedures, patient safety protocols, and service development.
Experience in strategic planning and service improvement within an endoscopy unit.
Excellent team collaboration and communication skills, ensuring seamless coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
Commitment to high standards of patient care and continuous professional development.
